“100 Startups” is another new project of the Vikings Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Through this project, we engage with undergraduates with business ideas and provide them guidance to start their own businesses. We hope to provide knowledge, skills, and guidance to develop their business ideas through conducting workshops and will be covering topics that are highly essential and informative to start a new business. This project will start on the 11th of July 2022 and informing about the project to the undergraduates is done through both articles and video series. These articles will focus on the importance of starting businesses and the posts and video series will be on how this economic crisis affects our businesses while promoting our new business concepts.
In the present context, Sri Lanka is in a financial and economic crisis, its worst yet since independence in 1948. Through the video series, we will promote the current situation of the country and show them the importance of entrepreneurship to overcome these problems.
After initiating the project, we will be continuing this project for 3 months. Undergraduates of any university in Sri Lanka can participate in this project and we are hoping to register them through a google form. We are deciding to get support from lecturers, Economists, and YouTubers to conduct the sessions. Our flagship event of this project will be held on the 21st of August. At the end of the project, the participants who started their own businesses will be given the opportunity to pitch their business ventures in front of investors in order to develop their businesses and raise capital.
