Walk of Mercy – 4
Walk of Mercy is the project which is conducted by Vikings Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura with the aim of teaching the fellow Vikings about the value humanity over material things in life and as the privileged members of the society, to educate them & provide them the opportunity to engage in such community work, to create a better future for the underprivileged.
Walk of Mercy I, ii & iii was held successfully in the elders’ homes & Vikings spent with them through the various fun activities.
Walk of Mercy iv was held on 21st of September 2019 & Vikings visited SURASA Child Care Development Center at Madiwela. The Vikings prepared breakfast for the 28 differently-abled children and donated necessary things for their day to day life & finished this phase successfully, with the contribution of Vikings members. Among the donated items, including
1. Toothpaste, Soap, Shampoo bottles
2. Dry rations such as Chickpea, green gram, Kidney beans & Rice packets
After a successful event Vikings went to Diyatha Guyana to spend some time with each other. Singing, Boat riding was many activities Vikings had fun with. Undoubtedly we can say that Vikings are beyond a club possibly a family which they turned on even after the event.
