Workshop on Intellectual Property Law in Sri Lanka

Workshop on Intellectual Property Law in Sri Lanka (A Practical Training and Education Program) Organized by the Innovation, Invention and Venture Creation Council (IIVCC) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka was held on 4th September 2018 at the Fingara Town Camp; Country Club. This workshop was facilitated by the Staff Development Centre of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda, Co-Chairperson at the IIVCC, Dr. Nilmini Liyanage, Co-Chairperson at the IIVCC, Dr. R.B. Marasinghe, Director, Staff Development Centre of the USJP, Dr. Lasith Gunawardena, General Secretary at the IIVCC, Mrs. Geethanjali Ranawaka, Director, National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka, Ms. M. M. G. N. Abeyruwan, Ms. B. K. N. Tharangani, Mr. C. Jayadeva and many other academic members of the University actively participated int he workshop.

8.30-9 .00: Registration
9.00-11.00: Background on IP and laws relative to IP
11.00-1.00: Patents and industrial design filing procedure
1.30-3.00: Trade Mark application
3.30- 5.00: Submitting trademark and patents application from a private practitioner
5.00 – Awarding of certificates and closing remarks
