The Innovation, Invention and Venture Creation Council (IIVCC) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura arranged a visit to SLINTEC (The Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology) on 6th June 2018. SLINTEC, incorporated in 2008 is the first public-private research institute in the country. This visit was a result of the cordial discussions held between Prof. Sampath Amaratunga, Vice Chancellor, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Mr. Harin de Silva Wijeyeratne, Cheif Executive Officer of SLINTEC earlier in the year.
Eight Academic Staff Members from the University participated in this visit, and they were enlightened on the nature of research work carried out at SLINTEC, and how SLINTEC hand assist academics to extend their research beyond the laboratory up to commercialization. SLINTEC has an array of cutting-edge research equipment and industry standard labs, and this was an opportunity for the academics to explore how they could utilize these facilities for broadening their research horizon.
The visit was arranged by Dr. Nishan Dharmaweera, Senior Lecturer and Council Member, IIVCC and were coordinated by Dr. Rangika de Silva, Head – Technology Transfer on behalf of SLINTEC.
