Coffee Chat is an initiative by the Innovation, Invention, and Venture Creation (IIVC) Council of
the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
This initiative was undertaken in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit and Startup Hub
of USJ. The event was held successfully on 31 st of January 2023 at Entre Club, Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences -USJ (Sumangala Building, Ground Floor). The Coffee Chat
was open to the students at USJ who are leading a startup and/or budding entrepreneurs at USJ.
The main objective of this event was to support budding entrepreneurs towards success. During
this chat, students shared their stories, current problems they’re facing and what kind of help
they need to move one step forward. Through this chat, they had the opportunity to get an idea
and suggestions to resolve their problems. Further, entrepreneurs were able to link with each
other. This Coffee Chat event is conducted on a monthly basis.
Prof. K.S. Lasith Gunawardena (Co-Chair, IIVCC-USJ), Dr. Nilushi Nugara (Co-Chair, IIVCC-
USJ), Ms. Shanuki Gunasekera (Associate Operations Officer – IFC), Ms. Shyami
Siriwardena (Program assistant for the Creating markets Advisory – IFC), Prof. Hiran
Amarasekera (Director –Startup Hub), Prof. Sudath Amarasena (Director – Career Guidance Unit
(CGU)) joined the event. And the event concluded successfully with the anticipation of meeting
at next moth coffee chat.
